Why become a Counsellor?

If you ask counsellors why they got into the profession, you will likely get a different response from each of them.

However in amongst all the stories of inspiration, curiosity and empathy there are common themes. For those who have taken a psychotherapy course in order to offer professional help, the job becomes a huge part of their life. No matter how they get there, the end result is a fascinating and rewarding role that challenges each and every day.

So what are some of the most common factors driving people to train in this discipline?

Intellectual curiosity

You could argue that there is no topic more interesting and complex than the human mind, so it is no surprise that some individuals like the intellectual stimulation of working with people every day; helping them through problems by sorting through the vast array of factors that affects their emotional state.

The chance to help others

For many people the opportunity to help others and get paid for it is a dream come true. While some individuals know this is what they want to do from a young age, sometimes it takes a person a few years of doing a more emotionally-flat job - perhaps in an office - before they realise how much they want their job to mean something in the grand scheme of things.

Personal experience

It is hard to know just how many people become counsellors because of some trauma that they - or a loved one - has suffered, but anyone can see that it would be a strong motivating factor to have personal experience of a disorder.

This aspect often incorporates intellectual curiosity and the chance to help others, as a person may be keen to know just what mechanisms cause a person to act a certain way, or simply be there for others who have suffered a similar mis-fortune.

It is seen that around 73,000 individuals are hired in this particular industry. Thus, the pharmaceutical industry in UK offers us a successful story compared to the rest of the world. Pharmaceutical units generally make huge investment and therefore they hire skilled professionals to make appropriate use of the technology.

In this sector there is no hard and fast rule that says that only individuals from science background are only the appropriate candidates to build a career in this industry. The sales and the marketing sector also deserve the same kind of footage. In the pharmaceutical industry another sector that can be looked upon or given equal importance is medical information jobs.

Change management forms an integral part of the discipline of IT service management. The aim of the process is to make sure that standard procedures and methods are used for implementing changes to the IT infrastructure. This is done in order to reduce or curb any instances and their subsequent impact on the service provided. The changes to the IT infrastructure many be necessary in case of external requirements such as an attempt towards increasing efficiency or in response to a problem. It may also be the result of service enhancement initiatives. The task of successfully implementing the changes should be assigned to one who has had prior experience in working as part of IT change manager jobs.

The process of change management ensures that quality processes and standardised methods are used to ensure that the change is effected smoothly without hampering the normal workflow. It is necessary to strike a balance between the need for implementing the change and the possible adverse impact that it can otherwise have.

The process of change management comprises the identification and subsequent recording of the changes. It is necessary to take into account the costs that the change will eventually incur. The benefits and the overall impact of the change over a period of time are also assessed. In fact, before implementing the change, it is necessary to convince the management and authorities that a change in the infrastructure is indeed required. An elaborate plan can be drawn up with the assistance of professionals in IT infrastructure jobs.

It is necessary to co-ordinate and manage the whole process of change implementation quite carefully, otherwise things can really off-track. Constant monitoring is necessary and in case a problem is encountered, it should be reported immediately. There might be proposals of change in the infrastructure, but they should be reviewed carefully before approval.

Cloud computing, though a comparatively recent technological phenomenon, has attained great popularity in the years. There are many who are looking for cloud computing jobs. In the wake of the increasing popularity of the cloud services, one cannot help but observe the marked shift from on-premise applications and data storage modes. Not only large organisations, even small and medium sized enterprises are no more hesitant about taking their solutions to the cloud. The question that bothers one and all amidst all this is whether the cloud solutions are secure enough for storing vital and even confidential information.

Concerns about cloud computing security are rampant. It is necessary for the organisation to adopt a pro-active stand towards ensuring complete security of the data as cybercrimes are at an all time high. Some may take it to be a giant leap of faith, the act of putting all your relevant data in the cloud and to entrust the responsibility of its safety to a third party. It is thus necessary that issues pertaining to cloud computing are addressed immediately.

However, though it is important to be concerned about the safety of your data, turning paranoid about the whole thing does not help your cause in any way.  There are obviously certain advantages of storing the data in cloud and these include:

  • Transferring the public data in the external cloud automatically reduces the chances of the exposure of the sensitive data
  • The cloud facilitates automatic security management
  • Easy disaster recovery solution
  • Testing and security auditing is made simpler as a result of cloud homogeneity

The cloud providers also stress on the inclusion of powerful cloud computing security while designing the business model. A number of solutions are deployed during the development stage. There are recruitment opportunities in the field of cloud computing security development as well. You can approach agencies that conduct SaaS recruitment in this regard.

The British Government has given its approval to the proposal of setting up of a series of nuclear plants which will be replacing the existing ones in generating as much as 20% of the country’s electricity. The installation of new plants will obviously translate into greater opportunities for those who wish to pursue nuclear careers. One of the vendors who have been assigned the job is Westinghouse. They have made an assessment of the fact that the setting up of the plant would boost the economy of the country with a contribution of a whopping £30 million.

With the increasing price of oil and gas supplies, the declining fossil fuel reserves and also the additional need to maintain the cause of the environment have forced people to look into new sources of power generation. Thus the increasing investments in the nuclear sector come as no surprise.  What it has also done is created innumerable jobs in nuclear industry

Except for one all the existing nuclear reactors in the country would be taken out of operation by the year 2023.  The Government is thus keen on looking for new designs of reactors that would not only help to utilise the reserves efficiently but also substantially cut down on the carbon emissions. But it is necessary to keep in mind the fact that it takes about a decade to plan and the construct a power station.

As per the existing requirements, the nuclear industry in UK appears to be quite a demanding one.  The creation of new plants mean that they need to be manned, right from ground level staff to managerial positions, from gas jobs to research scholars. With the implementation of new technology, it is necessary to employ people who are aware of the latest innovations in the field and have the expertise to handle such complex projects.

Today in a cloudy Coventry, a young student walked the streets, holding hands with a life size man made of CHICKEN WIRE!

The sign attached read - 'creative individual seeks job'. He walked into a bar full of people and asked the manager if any work was avaialble, to which the owner replied: "sorry there isn't, but if there was it would be yours".

Out he walked into the town centre, with his friend of hope and creativity.

Maybe it is not about sending CV's in times of economic downturns - maybe its about approaching it in a whole new way to stand out.

Good luck to that man. If you read this, get in touch.
